Traditional Serac Net Weight Rotary Filling Machine

This machine is a continuous movement system comprised of circular stations. Containers move through the machine by various components, such as an infeed star wheel, a transfer wheel, and an exit wheel.  Each circular station has a specific function, such as filling, nitrogen dosing, micro-filling, capping or transferring.

A filling station is equipped with a nozzle through which the product flows until it reaches a pre-defined weight and then the weight scale signals the nozzle to close.

Similarly, a capping station will have a defined number of spindles performing the capping operation.

Star Wheel and Worm Drives move the containers through the machine.

Rotary Machines are filling or filling/capping machines with a continuous movement during normal operation.

Our rotary filling machines are available for customers throughout the world, including those in the U.S. and Canada.

Normal Operating Mode for this Type of Machine:

  • Empty containers arrive on the infeed conveyor (1)
  • Their “pitch” is set to match the machine movement by the infeed wormwheel (2)
  • The infeed starwheel (3), transfers them to the filling carousel (4)
  • The presence of a container authorizes filling of this container
  • The transfer starwheel (5) transfers the containers from the filling carousel to the capping carousel (6)
  • At the same time, a cap elevator (7) provides a continuous supply of caps from a turner/feeder (cap sorter) (8) via a cap chute, to the cap carousel
  • Each capping carousel head takes a cap and places it on the corresponding containers to screw or push it on depending on the application
  • An exit starwheel (10) takes the containers from the capping carousel and transfers them to the exit conveyor (11)
  • A container found to be incorrectly filled or not capped will be deviated by the deviator (12) to the conveyor (13) reserved for “defective” containers
  • The operator (14) controlling the machine.

Serac Rotary Machine Configurations

Depending on the machine requirements it may also be equipped with other stations, such as a nitrogen dosing operation, a cap sterilization station, a bottle neck trimming operation or a bottle decontamination and rinsing operation.

The size and functionality of a Serac Net Weight Rotary Filling machine is dependent on the needs and requirements of each customer. A machine can range from as small as one filling head to as many as 90 with many different combinations in between. Additional features and options can be added as needed and the combined can result in virtually limitless possibilities for a custom solution.

Below are just a few examples of the Serac Rotary machine configurations. The machines are designed as the filling needs are determined and the number of positions can range from basic to extremely complex.
